Superintendent's Letter to Citizens and Parents 3-3-10

Dear Parents and Citizens of Hoboken,

In my March 1st letter, I welcomed Dr. Frank Romano, as the successor Superintendent of Schools to begin in July. For personal and personnel reasons, that shall not be the case.  Yours truly is offering to remain as your educational leader, pending Board of Education approval in April, until a permanent Superintendent is identified and contracted.

It remains my pleasure to be able to serve the children of Hoboken, hopefully now into the new school year.

Sincerely yours,
Peter E. Carter

Superintendent's Letter to Parents 3-1-10

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Greetings to you on this first day of March, the day on which we are compelled to serve a minimal lunch to the children of those parents whose accounts with our Food Service provider are in arrears.  We hope your son or daughter is not one of the children affected.  As we have been telling you over the past months, our annual audit has found the Food Service account to be in serious RED INK.  One solution has to be the cessation of complimentary lunches, and for the 2010-2011 school year, a CLOSED LUNCH at the high school for the underclassmen.

Superintendent's Letter to Parents 2-1-10

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What a month of January!

We are of course still wheeling as a nation and a world at the devastation and death caused by the earthquake in Haiti.  Hoboken has come forth in many ways to assist, including the High School Student Council who have launched their own fund raising efforts, which may be supported by student activity funds once raised for “emergency student aid.”  Our Jersey Journal several weeks ago did not report that the funds came from the senior class account, but unfortunately the article may have been interpreted that way by some.  All is fine now, and we commend the seniors for their leadership and compassion.  The staff, the drama club, and others have also stepped up to the plate in help a country which has lost more than 100,000 of its human beings who resided there.
