Dear Parents and Guardians of our Seventh and Eighth Graders,

"Please watch the website too for the announcement of the date of our meeting with the parents of our current seventh and eighth graders.  Thursday, February 18th, or Wednesday, the 24th are on the “Save the Date” radar for this very important meeting for the 7th and 8th grade parents."

That was what we wrote in the general February 1st letter!  Unfortunately, there are staff conflicts with those dates of which I was unaware, so I beg your indulgences to allow a change of date to Wednesday, February 17th at 6:30 p.m.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What a month of January!

We are of course still wheeling as a nation and a world at the devastation and death caused by the earthquake in Haiti.  Hoboken has come forth in many ways to assist, including the High School Student Council who have launched their own fund raising efforts, which may be supported by student activity funds once raised for “emergency student aid.”  Our Jersey Journal several weeks ago did not report that the funds came from the senior class account, but unfortunately the article may have been interpreted that way by some.  All is fine now, and we commend the seniors for their leadership and compassion.  The staff, the drama club, and others have also stepped up to the plate in help a country which has lost more than 100,000 of its human beings who resided there.

Registration for Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade will be held at Brandt School (215 9th Street) during the week of February 22nd for students NEW to the district.  The complete schedule and list of required documents is available on the attached flyer.

The Interim Superintendent and Board of Education are now able to release the names of the proud candidates for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

•  Frank Romano, Ed.D. currently a central office administrator in Fort Lee, N. J. 

The Board looks forward to the community's participation in tomorrow (1/26) evening's forum at 7:00 p.m. at Hoboken High School.

All residents of Hoboken are invited to interact with the two finalists for
the position of Superintendent of the Hoboken Schools. Each candidate
will spend approximately 45 minutes with the public, and after giving
some background information will respond to questions. NJSBA Search
Consultant, Susan McCusker, will facilitate the meeting.

Those in attendance will be able to share their impressions of the
candidates with the board, which has the responsibility for making the
final decision.
